High Voltage Laser Beam

An H.V.L.B. It is a laser between two walls.

To generate the laser you need a transmitter and a receiver. You could place the transmitter on anything “solid” in a map, that doesn’t include players. The receiver must be placed in visual range of the transmitter so it could receive the laser. The maximum distance between the transmitter and receiver is unlimited. But the further the two devices are from each other the less the strength of the laser is.

The point of the laser is to damage the enemy while it is walking through it. For example: If the distance is 2 meters the damage ratio would be 50%. But if the distance is 10 meters, the damage ratio would be 10%. So it would be wise to plant the devices in a tunnel or a doorway. You could plant them in whatever line you want to. The accuracy won’t go down.

Advantages:
- You can decide what the damage ratio is
- The transmitter and receiver will be cloaked against a wall. So it won't be fast detected.

Disadvantages:
- The laser can be seen so there is a chance that it will be detected.
- If an enemy sees the laser it can detect one of the devices. If you do see a device you can shoot it in too little pieces.

Damage Ratio: Can be different, depends on the distance.
Accuracy: 100%, no matter what way the devices are planted.

Shabby AND I worked on this idea. First it was an example too let you guys know what Shabby meant. Now we will see if it will be a good weapon.

The concept of having a device warn when an enemy passes a point or provides defense to an area is very good and has a lot of potential.

However, using lasers to harm people is a bit sci-fi. The problem is currently lasers powerful enough to harm people have tubes at least a foot or two long and require kilo watts of power. This means you would need a generator to power the device. The weapon is a bit of a streach even if we just losely base them on reallity.

You could keep your emitter/receiver concept and have the sensor emit an alarm when an enemy breaks the beam. Could be used to guard vents, hostages, doors, etc. You would know when an enemy was in there.

Using your concepts of doing player damage and guarding an area maybe a tasor (spelling??) mat (based on police stun guns). When an emeny steps on it a surge of electricity could be realeased stunning and blinding the player for a period of time, maybe some damage too. The shock would make the player scream so you would know a player was in a vent or walk way (or use it to guard the bomb). It could be like a REALLY mean flash bang.

Then you can plant more sets in one round. If set 1 detect a enemy, you hear the famous woman voice say: 1 (or Laser 1 is passed), or you see another sign. And the receiver and sender have to be really tiny then. If you plant sender and receiver on every acces in for example cs_assault the enemys MUST go trough it. So:

- The receiver and sender have to be tiny
- The weapon should be very cheap, beacause it doesnt hurt enemys
- The range should be unlimited, but it can't go trough walls
- The weapon cant be destroyed, at least its very strong
Something like that then :?

Maybe you could just design it like those laser trip mines they featured in the original Half-Life. Enemy walks into one, alarm goes off, kaboom, you're dead. Very good way to guard hostages and doors.

an idea would be to simply to use a half-life tripmine

it is a divice the can de seen and green
it shoots a laser beam
when laser beam is disruppted it triggers a reaction in witch it self distructs/and it shoots like 5 bullets in a wide spread area

the laser range is umlimted
but the farther away from green thing when you disrupted the beam the less of a chance of getting hit

it is a pratical divice for close corrters


disadvantges
-short range
-both beam and mine are seeable

advantages
-can be placed at any location (like foot level to be out of sight)
-good for close sorrrters
-good for a subbed corrnor




if you havenet played half-life and seen these then if you have team fortress classic
lok up sevrs in it

click the game button and look for the word neotf

the your charrtes when in sever be a sodier

go into console and type bind special2 to a key

if you want example pm me ill find sever and i have keys binded and ill show you
