Taser gun

Postby lnx[art] » Sat Apr 07, 2007 8:29 pm

A gun that shoots a dart at a player and renders then unable to aim correctly (see Seismic Transmitter). This exists in real life, used for riot control and day to day police work(at least in the U.S.A).

--Advantages--
-renders enemy unable to aim for 4-6 seconds
-fired like bullet, if you have good aim then you are good to go

--Disadvantages--
-limited amount of darts
-cannot cause actual harm, must switch to normal weap to cause damage
-replaces knife (slot 3)
-costs 5 credits(because it can mean difference between life or death in close combat)

and NO, this is not similar to http://community.deadm.com/viewtopic.php?t=954

Cool concept. I am not too sure how well it would play as a special weapon thought.
The police tasers have a very limited range, around 20 feet. This means you would have to be almost next your victim. The police use the taser as a less than lethal means of subduing someone. Isn't the point of CS to do as much murderous bodily damage to the enemy as possible?

It might work as an add on to a weapon. If someone came on you wile you were reloading your weapon you could taser them, finish reloading, then shoot them.

Hmm armor might be an issue, since Kevlar would prevent the taser from touching skin.

There has been a new invention recently, a stand alown taser, it is basicaly a suitcase that an electrical charge is transmited from (sorta like lightning except no ending point). This device can be activated by a remote switch or motion sensor the active field is about a 3 by 3 foot field on one side of the box. It was made to be used in doorways, as a suprise as someone walks through. I believe this was on the show Future Weapons.

Just an idea :)

slowman - You're correct! Here is your check for $1 million, have a nice day! It was featured in Future Weapons. A simple suitcase that sits down with 2 holes on 1 side - an infra-red motion detector and a electro-static lightning emiter. The range is about 3 feet wide and actually ~5-7 feet out.
Maybe as a spec weap implementation, it could be enhanced to 360 degree view with longer range to accomodate the large size of many CS maps?

Fluffy - there is a ("beta") taser with spikes on the end of it (i.e. ascii art below) designed to penentrate clothes and thin armor but not pierce skin (dunno how, online [oh boy, creditibily out the window] article didn't specify)
Code: Select all
+---------+
|  _______|-\-/-/\-\-/--\/-/--E
| |
|_|
(the -\-/- stuff is supposed to be the electrical wire transmitting the electricity charge...)

[EDIT]
Maybe you can do this - smaller version of the chain gun (the suitcase just sits there, doesn't expand) with shorter range (much) and greater damage (probably per second)

well one you would probably not use this in a large map, like it would be stupid to use dews in air_fight2 (heh, heh...). A map better suited might be cs_assault in the vent or perhaps by the hostys. A weaponshould not be adapted for every possible map, just some. But what kind of ammo would this have? A battery like the flashlight?

You could even put an icon displaying battery life. That would be cool.

Don't the dews provide the same protection? Actually better since they kill rather than just slow down.

this could kill while in the feild like drowning.. but otherwise I think dews provide better protection in this case. However my electro darts thingy's protection is not provided by anything other than armors...
