Its probably because Deadman has a lot of other things going on than a normal pub server, its latency is also always 150+ so ifyou get 100 ping on most servers you'll get thrice that here and more so if you get 150 ping on other pub servers......

If you have a high ping to the server or your ping changes it is either your systems or ISP. In most cases it is the ISP. Deadm uses Cogent for its network provider. Several cable companies have not increased their bandwidth to the Cogent network to match the numbers of their customers accessing the Cogent network. The result can be high pings.

Or you just have a cheap computer.

Another issue could be location, like I get lots of ping because I live in west coast while the server is east coast. However, probably won't cause ping 600+ Whenever I break 600.... or 4000.... its because my brothers are streaming videos or dling on the same internet line. This is where the lag really kicks in. (4000+ is my best :D )

yea, and it worked. He must have been downloading some music files or something, but hid it, so I just turned off the computer rather than search it to find the downloading. Happens quite often hehe. 8)

One of my friends had a similar problem, he installed a sneaky program wich limited the bandwith of his sisters computer, since she wasnt very smart she never realized it and he could go back to his normal pings without boaring arguments with her.

Interesting... but my brothers would easily notice something like that...
