Anti-Virus/Adware/Spyware

I've been having troubles with popups lately. I do not know if it is a virus, spyware, or adware. I have the free version of Ad-Aware, which was created by lavasoft, but it doesnt seem to be doing the job. I was wondering if I could get some recommendations for a good, free anti-virus or adware/spyware remover software. Thanks.

Spybot - Search And Destroy
The antivirus I use is Avast Anti-virus though I got it of CD so...
I can recall shabby saying something about Spyware deleter or something but I can't seem to find wich he means. Just get on google and find a download spot.

I got avast and found a trojan on my system.
