i "think" it would be within your registry.... but i don't think you would need the cd key for it as long as you have steam registered already unless you want to play 1.5 then you'll need it <-- might be wrong so plz don't flame me to hard

if you would get a new computer and would need to reinstall it.. you would only need to get steam and wouldnt need your c-d key since it is tied to your steam account.
