New Server Command

We have been working on a new mod for the server. It is still a work in progress, but it appears stable enough we made it a vote-able mode. The mod adds assassins to the game that hunt all players. The command to start the mod is:

vote_monsters

If the mod is well received more types of monsters other than assassins will be added.

Also added:
  • If you are the only player on the server you can launch any of the votes. (Before you needed two players for a vote to succeed).
  • A single player can launch up to four votes per map.
  • The time required between votes has been reduced to 30 seconds.

Just uploaded some additional changes for the monster mod.

  • When killed you will instantly re-spawn. (will add a delay before you re-spawn later)
  • You will re-spawn into your teams spawn area (when possible).
  • Standard weapon buy time has been extended to the entire map. (late joins can buy as soon as they enter the server.)
  • Death animations have been improved. Dying assassins no longer popup after they die.

Hey fluffy, i was playing on deadm the other day, and i was playing monsters mod, i cant remember the map name but i think it was magicfountain something. I was killing the monsters, then at one point i just couldnt die, i kept on getting hit but my life stayed at 97 hp and i couldnt die by them.

Did you see, "You have been re-spawned" messages in chat? If the monsters crowd a re-spawn point they can kill you and you will re-spawn at the same point. They kill you again. The process repeats. I noticed during testing that with instant re-spawn it can be difficult to tell you have died. (I need to add some delays after you die).

However, if you were running all over the map and the bots never did damage to you when they attacked, that would be a problem.

I just uploaded the following changes:

- re-spawn points are more randomly picked. This should reduce people re-spawning surrounded by monsters.
- Flame throwers now kill the monsters.

Note: Dew nades will kill monsters, but the monsters will not cause them to detonate. This still needs to be added.

Added : 6/21/2009 - There is a problem that on occasion the Assassin player can join a team. If this occurs then the assassins do not damage players on its team. I uploaded code to address this issue. If you see it occur again please let me know.
