Welcome To The New Forums

Postby FluffyKitty.deadm » Sun May 18, 2008 3:44 pm

As you can see we just upgraded the forums. This version is a complete re-work of the forum software, with many additional features. We are still in the process of figuring out what those features are :) . For the time being we are using the default style, as time passes we will customize it somewhat.

If you have problems with the new forums please report them to: admin@deadm.com

Yeah, it can be a bit confusing. So far I find it a lot easier to administer than phpbb2.0.x. For phpbb2 I had to write several custom scripts to block spammers and other issues. It appears those features are already present in phpbb3, so that is cool.

You are supposed to be able to get notifications when someone posts to a forum, but so far I have not figured out how. :-k

I also hate their default forum style. I find it cluttered and hard to find features.

Add: I just figured out forum subscriptions. You go to a forum, (ex: this is posted in the "General" Forum). At the very bottom left of the page next to "Board Index" is a checked option, "Subscribe". The check makes it appear you are already registered, but NO, you have to click the "Subscribe" link and the check will turn to a dot. As I said, I hate the default forum style and its layout. #-o

The log me automically in every visit doesn't work for me. I go to another site and right back and I have to log in again.

I think I corrected the issue.

When we first installed the new forums they were placed into a test domain. Once everything was working we moved the forums to the production domain. The cookies for logins were still being created in the test domain. Moving them to the production domain should solve the issue.
