You basically:
- Record a CS Demo
- Convert the demo to BMP's
- Convert the BMP's to an AVI file
- Use some editor to edit the AVI (like Movie Maker)
- Save the edited movie as an AVI file
- Convert the AVI file to a FLASH movie
- Write a flash loader to load the movie

WALLA, you are done.

http://community.deadm.com/viewtopic.php?t=170&highlight=intro talks about the process a little bit.

It has been about 3 years since I made the movie so I do not remember the exact command syntax. I searched the web for some tutorials on the matter. From the web (I googled, convert .dem to .avi): http://www.moviecodec.com/topics/5822p2.html
Open up counter-strike and type “viewdemo " this will bring the demo up. When you get to the point where you want to start taking footage type in console “startmovie mov 1 30” The 30 is the fps so you can raise it for higher quiality. If you want another one, change the 1 to a 2 or a 3 etc etc etc. Then dl videomach, just google it. When you go back into the folder where the demo used to be you will see a **** load of screen shots. Open all the screen shots in videomach and select options. Video settings you can choose what you want to convert to ex avi, mpeg etc. Then videomach will compress the screenshots for you and you can open the “movie” it creates in which ever editing program you choose.

Here is another one, this is for CS Source but the commands are the same (source produces .tga's, while 1.6 produces .bmp's): http://www.softwareweb.co.uk/guide.php?id=5

There is no program to read .dem files. viewdemo and startmovie are commands you type in the console of cstrike. From my posted quote, It says Open up counter strike... type viewdemo.... type in console startmovie...

Then get someone else in your clan to follow the steps to convert the .dem files to .avi. Then they can give you the .avi file to edit and make a movie.
