I have started once again playing some Natural Selection. It is a free mod for Half Life 1 similar to the movie Aliens, where marines fight aliens. I have created a marine trainer server where marines fight bot aliens.

Anyone interested can connect to the server at: ns.deadm.com

You can download the mod at: http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns/

The server will probably only be around for a month or two. Depending how long it takes for me to get bored with it. 8)

lol, I was working on a script to give continuous mines in CO maps. Having issues getting it to work properly though.

When every body can get mines every respawn, the server gets filled with mines and makes the server unhappy.

That is the default behavior of NS. You normally only get 1 mine at round start. We run mods to give you more mines at the start of the round. Just need to modify the script so it tracks the mines already deployed.

I just updated the server to NS 3.2. Turns out 3.2 was released March 2, 2007 and I didn't realize it. OOpps my bad.

xmenu with 100 levels and co maps are back. Lets hope xmenu is more stable under 3.2 and does not keep crashing the server this time.

Can we reduce the time limit on CO maps? 70 minutes gets real tedious. People start asking when we can kill the hive around the 20 minute mark.

Plus the server keeps crashing around the 30-40 min mark anyhow :)

Thanks,

It is at 70 mins to allow time for people to max out xmenu levels. Sadly it is xmenu that seems to be causing the server to crash. To try and stabilize the server we reduced the number of xmenu levels to the default 5. As such we also dropped the combat round time to 55 mins.

If xmenu keeps crashing the server we will have to pull the CO maps again.
