Some of you may of noticed the "Angry Banana" weapon in the buy_weapon menu. This is actually a Sentry Chain Gun that was code named "Angry Banana" while it was being developed. It appears most of the major issues have been resolved with the weapon.
The final stages of testing are beginning today. Admins will be testing the weapon looking for situations that may cause problems or bugs that have been missed. Once this stage of testing is complete and all issues resolved the weapon price will be lowered and players on deadm will be able to purchase it.
Here is a brief description of the Chain Gun:
Description: A Self Contained Automated Rapid Fire Sentry (SCARFS). The weapon uses a scanning laser to automatically locate and lock onto enemy players. Once the weapon acquires a target it begins firing until the target is destroyed or moves out of line of sight. As the weapon fires it increases its fire rate to increase destruction of the target. The weapon replaces the player knife. While holding the weapon’s case the player can use primary attack to hit (damage) enemies with the case. Pressing secondary attack will throw the case in the direction the player is looking. The weapon will automatically deploy once the case comes to rest.
Range: The weapon is most effective at medium range. There is no limit to the distance the weapon can fire. Each bullet fired causes the platform to “jog” reducing the guns long range accuracy.
Advantages: The weapons targeting is extremely accurate at close to medium range and almost never misses at this range. When idle the weapon does not emit heat making it invisible to heat seeking weapons.
Disadvantages: Smoke grenades interfere with the laser targeting system preventing it from locking onto enemies shrouded in smoke. If the weapon is in smoke it will not lock onto any enemies. As the weapon fires the barrels start to emit heat that can be detected and locked onto by heat seeking weapons. Once the weapon stops firing the barrels begin to slowly cool. The turret turns slow enough that a player very close to the weapon can move faster than the turret can turn. The turret can be destroyed by small arms fire or special weapons.
Slot: Uses slot 3 replacing the knife.
